For my advanced project I have decided to do the following:
2: A promotion package for a new film, to include a trailer, together with the following options: • a film magazine front cover, featuring the film; • a poster for the film.
I have learnt that my target audience understood
the plot of the film when watching he trailer due to the voiceovers, use of dialogue
and the use of one/two shots, that all work together with the equilibrium. The
fact that they understood the plot is good as the trailers purpose is to not
only advertise the film, but is should explain the plot so that you have an
understanding of the film, without knowing the outcomes. They said that the
voice over explained the background story whereas the dialogue explained the
present day story. The audience agreed that the two shots and one shots were used
to show the character’s relationships.
They thought the music suited the trailer
well as it was able to create different tones and levels of tension at
different parts of the trailer, while still being part of the indie-pop genre.
The audience also saw that the same font
was used as the title on my poster, as the captions and title on my trailer and
as the cover line on my magazine. They said this made the film easy to identify
and it created a link (brand synergy) between all 3 products, which promotes
the film.
I have been successful in the way that my
audience all felt as though they gained something from watching the film such
as the message of taking risks etc.
Also my aim was to create a product that left
the audience wanting more, and this worked as my audience have all said that
watching the trailer made them want to go and see the film as it was left on a cliff-hanger.
