We were given camera workshops to learn how to use the camera for filming our trailers. We were shown how to do a shot-reverse-shot of a conversation. I used the Dolly and tripod to do a tracking shot of two people walking from behind and in front. I learnt that I need to tell my actors to walk at the same pace me as I found it difficult to keep the camera steady as i kept having to change my pace which effected the quality of filming. I also learnt that I need to use a smooth surface otherwise the camera will again be unsteady, therefore I did this in the workshop.
When doing the shot-reverse-shot I learnt that I was getting to much of the background in the shot that didn't need to be there(1st picture) and therefore I moved the camera over a bit and zoomed in more and took the second picture which was more like a shot-reverse-shot. Another factor I learnt was to 'not cross the line' meaning that when taking a shot-reverse-shot, I need to stay on the same side of the actors.
