Film Magazine Front Cover Analysis - Total Film



Masthead - This masthead is big and bold which is eye-catching for the reader and gets the title of the magazine across easily. It also takes up  1/5th of the page, so it stands out and grabs the readers attention.

Title - The name 'Total Film' gets across the fact that this magazine is all about film, conveying that this magazine has a lot of knowledge about film, meaning the readers will get a high quality product.

Feature Article Photo - The feature article photo has eye contact with the reader, which makes them feel part of the magazine. It is in the centre of the page showing a sense of dominate from the charter, setting the tone for the film and article inside. The dark clothing the cover star is wearing contracts to the light background, making the whole magazine stand out more, grabbing the readers attention.

Cover Line - The cover line overlaps the feature article photo which creates the clear link between the two. The typography is late and bold and uses the dame colours as the background to create a contrast between itself and the feature article photo. The coverline uses a quote "All the elements are coming together!" which suggests what will happen in the film, making the reader want to find out more.

Plugs - There are plugs both Flush Left and Flush Right which centres the feature article photo on the page creating an empathise on this article. Each plug also uses one word which creates 'short and snappy' titles which instating attracts the reader. There is also a plug at the top of the page that uses persuive language to get the reader to buy the magazine. 'Coolest' shows that this magazine up to date and very current with their information, again expressing a high quality product.
